This month i decided to do something a lil different and went with a noir style. My reason - i bought a whole load of new pens, particularly my NEW BRUSH PEN, sooooo speckle 8DDD Also, as i was inking, i decided to concentrate on line shape and thickness as a means of tone.
The mythology i went for was African - i was inspired by the African goddes of destruction and so used the influence in my character. She has many names but i chose Oya, simple yet elegant. She has many powers but i wanted to emphasise her more destructive nature, so i illustrated the lightning and fire she can create. She's also seen as a warrior goddess, so the mask represents her status as a mighty and noble goddess. I also wanted a dynamic and powerful pose, without making it complicated. I fee this pose works nice because it shows her dominance and elegance.
Hope you likes The only thing i would try to do better would be to really get better at hands
Let me start with the good :3 The pose is just abosoutly amazing, as well as the detail and the way the fabric on her clothes moves with breeze! The inking is great as well as your theme, it really has that African feel you were aiming for!
The only prombles I see is the ams and head. Like the postion of the right arms seems alittle awkard but it's not that bad. The left arm is fine, the fingures don't look right, then again I know from experince how hard it is to draw the cursed hands. Something about the area where the neck and head nags at me and I'm not sure... prehaps it's the factyou can't see no chin? Then again she's looking up.
Overall: A lovely peice and the good out ways the tiny mess-ups in my opinion! Nicely done dear!
Black and white is the basic of all comic books very good outlinening and showing light to heavy line draw X3 if this is the base ouline for colors later its good! but if you're not coloring, consider having hatches mark to show shadow effect on the parts that isn't darken by black. balance out the white and black because right now my eyes are going to the heavy black shade and i hardly notice the fire in her hand (but now taht I notice it its AWESOME X3) overall if i was an Art teacher i give you an A for a black and white outline project ^_^
-.- hehe I still havent exactly figure out the Critique thing.... And I have serious qualms about critiquing anyone's art that is generally better than my own haha! Nice drawing
