Sorry but this has taken sooooo much longer than anticipated. It started as a copic colour piece but i did it on A3 and the only scanner i could access was this craptacular one at uni and for the life of me i couldn't get it looking good, no matter how many times i faffed with hue, saturation and contrast and all the other buttons....so i cried.
So then i decided to use photoshop and completely REDID the whole image in Photoshop, hoping to do like a speed paint. But then something happen whilst painting. I was doing my typical make-layer-multiply and coloured that way, but then i started doing the metal arm really loosely and blended WITHOUT using smudge. The result was what i've been after for AGES!!! so then i started doing the rest of her like that and suddenly, i was beginning to really love the piece.
I know i still have miles to go with painting, but i've finally found a way of painting i like (apart from realism) that's quick and loose.
sorry about the story So i now have a pic of Alis that i LOOOOOVE.
Oh and the pose was inspired by Jim Zubkavich, illustrator and Project Manager at UDON Entertainment. I was chatting with him at Animex (UK Gaming Festival) and showed him some pictures of Alis and he wanted to see more aggresive, dominant poses of her. So he started posing as her - which was AWESOME! and hilarious. I figured, that guy's worked on Chun Li for ages....like i'm gonna say no to his advice (made her thighs bigger too)
and she has logo now 8DDDDDD --------------------------------- Media: Photoshop CS3, Wacom Time: Approx 9hrs. --------------------------------- Gear brushes
I don't think I've mentioned this on all the other pictures you've done of her, but I've always liked the wings you picked out. (Most wings you see on people are just one color or something boring like that but i really like the colors you chose for hers )
The metal work looks awesome as well! That new technique is a keeper i think.
great work! seems like the game will be great fun.

Well her name is the full latin name for the Australian King Parrot - which is red and green [link] I've tried hard make the wings like parrot wings too.
I'm thinking of entering her into an OCT, which one i'm not sure yet.

also, we're trying to steer away from the gritty realism theme, or the "Gears of War" scenario where everything looks like its been through a coffee filter, so the colour palett is extremely vivid and contrasts nicely against the steam punk cities/bad-guys
just thought i'd let you know

Oh, I see! Heh, I need to draw from real life material more often I would probably get better results!

As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
